Just a Username and a blank password??? [message #644]

I was wondering if anyone new how to protect a certain directory on the server. I have a folder i want protected. And Currently there is a .htaccess and a .htpasswd in that directory the problem is that I am trying to create it so that there is just a usernam to access it and no password. If some one can explain the correct code to me that would be of great help!
