I need htaccess to redirect to different places for the two urls below

www.test.com/product.php?id=1
should redirect to
www.test.com/products/1

www.test.com/product.php?id=2
should redirect to
www.test.com/products/2

But can't get htaccess to recognise that it should treat
www.test.com/product.php?id=1
differently from
www.test.com/product.php?id=2
