Hi all
I'm quite new to the .htaccess file.
I have a website which uses the .htaccess file for rewriting the urls.
It also uses a php page which does not work correctly with the new verson of PHP5x.
So I have search hi and low for another url rewite, which I have found. Although it will require me to re-name every link on the site. Around about 700 pages so not to many! but it will work.
Now at present the old links show something like this.
some-random-domain-name-dot-co-dot-uk/product/Some-Small-Ite m-For-Sale-dot-html
The new links show like this:
some-random-domain-name-dot-co-dot-uk/some-small_item-for-sa le-dot-html
I'd like to try the rewiterule so that search engine change these old links into the new ones. I have tried the code below but cannot get it to work.
Can anybody see what I'm doing wrong? please ignore the domain name as I did not want any links as they're just an illustration!
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^/product/Some-Small_Item-For-Sale\.html\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^product/Some-Small_Item-For-Sale\.html$ http://www-dot-some-random-domain-name-dot-co-dot-uk/some-small_item-for-sale\-dot-html [R=301,L]
Please note that these pages are dynamically driven. The site is an oscommerce site, which has used the nimmit contribution and now is looking to progress to the SEO contribution which uses a root.php and .htaccess files for renameing files and storing them in the database.
I hope someone answer as I've been messing with this file for quite a few days now!
